No sooner had Andrew Luu crossed the finish line when he started thinking about next year. 230 kms, legs numb, lungs burning – but this was no ordinary ride.
Andrew and his teammates, Stephanie Shoobert, Aaron Choi, Serguei Roupassov and Davis Flohr (all from Valard and Valard Geomatics) along with Jeff Whelan and Neil Anderson (both QPS Engineering) made up Team Quanta/Valard at this year’s Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer in southern Alberta.
“This was absolutely life-changing,” said Andrew. “An awesome adventure. We’re so grateful to all our donors, sponsors and contributors and everyone else who supported us the past few months leading up to the Ride.”
Quanta Services has made a three-year Peloton Partner commitment to the support the overall Ride. The seven members of Team Quanta/Valard raised over $18,000 with support from friends, family members and peers. They also placed 9th in the CORPORATE INDUSTRY CHALLENGE in the Mining, Oil, Gas and Utilities Industry category.
“With the commitment from my team members and knowing Quanta’s support and commitment I was proud to wear the logo on my jersey,” said Andrew.
The 7th annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer took place Saturday August 8th and 9th through the majestic Rocky Mountains in southern Alberta. It helped raise $7.8 million for the Alberta Cancer Foundation to strategically invest in breakthrough cancer research, clinical trials, enhanced care and the discovery of new cancer therapies at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Cross Cancer Institute and 15 other centres across Alberta. Since 2009, the Ride has helped raise $42.6 million for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
