Advanced Technology Manager
Greg joined Valard Geomatics Ltd. in 2014 as the Construction Survey Manager and now works as our Advanced Technology Manager where he oversees and directs the projects that utilize some of the specialized technology and equipment.
Greg was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Growing up in a military family he spent his childhood moving between Canadian Forces bases throughout Canada and Europe. Greg joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1987, receiving his Air Navigator Wings in 1990. He attained the rank of Captain and accumulated 3,000 hours of military flying participating in diverse operations including Operation Desert Storm, Red Cross and United Nations relief operations in Africa and search & rescue throughout Canada and Alaska.
Greg returned to school in 2006 to obtain this Geomatics Engineering Technology Diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). While attending NAIT he challenged the seven exams of the Canadian Board of Examiner for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS) and graduated in 2007 with a CBEPS Certificate of Completion and immediately commenced his articles, obtaining his Alberta Land Surveyor commission in 2010.
Greg puts his military flying and navigation skills to use at Valard Geomatics Ltd. by managing corporate Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) drone operations and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) projects. Greg works closely with corporate Engineering teams to come up with customized and innovative project solutions.
